Alan Uzelac

Alan Uzelac is a Full Professor and the Chair of the Department for Civil Procedure at the University of Zagreb (Croatia). He specializes in national and comparative civil procedure, the organization of the judiciary, alternative dispute resolution, procedural human rights, and evidence. Professor Uzelac has served for years as a national delegate in the Working Group for Arbitration and Conciliation of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). He is also one of the founding members of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) of the Council of Europe. He has published over 150 academic papers, written or edited more than twenty books, and has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and seminars across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. As part of the ELI-UNIDROIT project, which produced the model European Rules of Civil Procedure, he served as a co-reporter on procedural obligations of judges, parties and lawyers. Professor Uzelac is a full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, an honorary member of the Council of the International Association of Procedural Law, and a member of the Council of the German Association for International Civil Procedure.
