Scott Dodson

Scott Dodson is the James Edgar Hervey Chair in Litigation, Geoffrey C. Hazard Jr. Distinguished Professor of Law, and Director of the Center for Litigation and the Courts. An expert in civil procedure and federal courts, Professor Scott Dodson has published eight book titles, including The Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Cambridge 2015, 2d ed. 2022), and has written more than 120 shorter works appearing in top U.S. law reviews and prominent peer-reviewed journals, including Stanford Law ReviewNew York University Law ReviewMichigan Law ReviewUniversity of Pennsylvania Law ReviewAmerican Journal of Comparative LawAmerican Journal of International Law, Law & Society Review, Law & Social Inquiry, Comparative Law Review, and Civil Justice Quarterly, among many others. His scholarly writings have been cited in more than forty-five court opinions and have been downloaded more than 70,000 times. He currently serves on the Council of the International Association of Procedural Law and is the U.S. Editor of the International Journal of Procedural Law. In 2024, Professor Dodson was counsel of record for the petitioner in Harrow v. Department of Defense, winning a 9-0 reversal from the U.S. Supreme Court.
